Kim earned his Professional Golfers’ Ability Test at age 24 age in Korea, and has been playing on the Korea and Asian tours. He captured the Kirin Open in the final event of the 1997 Asian Tour season, rallying from a six-stroke margin. It was the first win by a Korean player since the Japan PGA Tour was launched in 1973. . .Winner of the 2011 Fancl Classic and the Japan PGA Senior Championship as a rookie, and won the season money title. . .As a former member of the Japan PGA Tour, he posted four victories: 1997 Kirin Open, 1999 Dydo Drinco Shizuoka Open, Super Mario Yomiuri Open, and the 2004 Sato Foods NST Niigata Open. . .Competed in the Open Championship in 1997 and '99, missing the cut in both appearances.
