Ask your Utility Clubs question

Q: Bill C.:
How do I know which utility club replaces a wood? My bag is getting awfully heavy.

A: Le Ann K.H. Finger (South Florida Section):
If you are asking about utility clubs, i.e. meaning Hybrid clubs, most manufacturers mark the club with the degree of loft on the sole. Typical three wood lofts are 13 to 15 degrees with five wood lofts are 18 to 21 degrees. Therefore a hybrid with a loft of 21 to 24 degrees would be a comparable to a seven wood. If you haven't tried and purchased a hybrid yet, I recommend you put one or two in your bag, keep your fairway woods and replace the three or four irons in your bag.
