Q: maria impanglozada:
my grandson is 12 and very involve in golf.He wants to be a pga professional , what would you suggestweshould do to get him started to this path.
A: John Pallot (South Florida Section):
Maria, have your grandson work at the golf course when he can(age 15). Before then take lessons and have fun playing golf. When he enters college age many schools have a pga management program now.Clemson,FSU,New Mexico St.just to name a few. I believe it's called the PGM program.
Q: Jeanne S.:
My 9 yr. old daughter has become very interested in golf and spends a lot of time watching both the men and women Tour professionals. I'd like to get her started playing the game, but I don't know if she is really serious. What are your thoughts on this?
A: Todd A. Sammons (South Florida Section):
Get her involved in a junior clinic at a local course. They are usually very non threatening and fun. Ask your local PGA Professional if he/she has a beginning clinic for juniors. You can find junior clinics in your area by going to Playgolfamerica.com amd by calling the different courses in your area. Hope this helps!
