A Lesson Learned: Keeping it going
Stop me if you've heard this one before: Rory McIlroy convincingly beats an elite field to win on the PGA Tour. Actually, you've probably heard it three of the last four weeks. Hey, this kid is really good.

A Lesson Learned: 3 steps to making short putts
Once again, the old adage that "golf is a game of putting" holds true - especially on the PGA Tour. So many storylines were playing out this past week at the Deutsche Bank Championship, it was hard to keep track of them all.

A Lesson Learned: Youth is served
Without question, the headline story of the day or week goes to 15 year old Lydia Ko, an amateur who won the CN Canadian Women's Open. Yes, you read that right. She's 15 years old.

A Lesson Learned: Chipping when wet
Once again, inclement weather plays a part on the PGA Tour - this time leading to a Monday finish. One of the beauties - and challenges - of golf is that it's an outdoor game. Wind, heat and rain are all part of what makes this great game such a great challenge.

A Lesson Learned: Playing a soft course
Take the best players in the world, wind and rain (and a couple of delays) and the pressure of a major championship and you are going to have one incredible golf tournament. And that's exactly what we had at the 94th PGA Championship here at the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island.

A Lesson Learned: Beat a buried lie
For many, lost in the drama of the final hole struggles of Jim Furyk was the incredible up-and-down from Keegan Bradley from that buried lie in the bunker.

A Lesson Learned: Generating Power
Scott Piercy won the RBC Canadian Open, in large part because of his four-birdie run early in the final round. And that run was punctuated when he drove the green on the 300 yard par 4 fifth hole. Wouldn't it be great if you had that shot in your bag?

A Lesson Learned: Make that crucial putt
Every golfer who's ever faced a critical putt - whether it was for a two-dollar win in your weekend nassau, to win a club championship or in Ernie Els case, to win the Claret Jug and his fourth major championship; knows how your heart rate increases and your hands can shake a bit as you pr

A Lesson Learned: Play YOUR Game

A Lesson Learned: Laying back on short par 4s
Once again, it was great to see the world's best players visit my home facility, the TPC River Highlands. It's always exciting to see how the elite players take on the same course that you play on, teach on and watch so many other golfers take on.

A Lesson Learned: Commit to the shot
First and foremost, "Congratulations to Webb Simpson!" Simpson has been one of the most consistent and dedicated players in golf over the last year, he is a deserving and worthy champion of the U.S. Open. I expect we'll see more major championship victories in his future.

A Lesson Learned: When you need a birdie, find the fairway
What a great finish to a great tournament in Memphis! Congratulations to Dustin Johnson, what a way to comeback from his injury. His ball-striking and touch around the greens showed that he is not only fully recovered, but has to be among the favorites for next week's U.S. Open.

A Lesson Learned: Pitch out of thick rough
The purpose of 'A Lesson Learned' is to find the one shot or type of shot that helped determine a winner at the week's feature event and use it as a way to help YOUR game. But what shot do you pick this week? Just kidding.

A Lesson Learned: Off golf course preparation
It was a great honor to represent The PGA of America and my fellow club professionals this week as the Low Club Professional at the Senior PGA Championship. It was a great week and a tremendous event.

A Lesson Learned: Importance of a consistent pre-shot routine
This week's HP Byron Nelson Championship at TPC Las Colinas in Irving, Texas, certainly showed us what a roller coaster ride golf can be at times. As in life, golf has its highs and lows and that was clearly on display in the Lone Star State.

A Lesson Learned: Overcoming Mental Demons
It was with a great sense of joy that I watched this past week's Players Championship. Why? Because it's obvious, golf is in great hands - with a strong crop of stars ready to carry the torch for the next generation.

A Lesson Learned: Wedge Distance Control
One of the questions I'm asked most often is, "What is the biggest difference between amateur golfers and professional Tour players?" Well I think I saw it up close this past week at the Athens Stadion Classic where I was fortunate enough to compete and we all saw it this weekend
