Lesson Learned

One of things that makes golf such an interesting and challenging game are the changing conditions during a round. Because it's an outdoor sport, golf is affected by weather: wind and precipitation. But light -- or the lack thereof -- can be just as challenging to a top golfer.

A Lesson Learned: Hitting out of divots
It was one of the most exciting Players Championship tournaments I can remember, and surprisingly, two of golf's biggest names weren't in the mix at the end. I love watching Phil and Tiger contend, and I know most fans do, but this bodes well for the sport of golf that K.J.

A Lesson Learned: Bouncing back from golf disaster
So this week we saw PGA Tour player Kevin Na shoot 80 in the first round of the Valero Texas Open. A tour pro shooting 80 is surprising, but not unheard of. But Na shot 80 after he made a 16 – yes, a 16, on the par four ninth hole.

A Lesson Learned: Fighting off nerves and tension
In the 75 years that there has been a Masters, you’d be hard-pressed to find one that had more drama and excitement among such a large group of players as this past one.

So it looks like we may have a prohibitive favorite going into Augusta! Nevermind that Phil Mickelson already has three green jackets, his play this past week in Houston says he is primed to go for his fourth.

A Lesson Learned: Finish the race with what put you on top
You have to feel for Robert Garrigus. To be so close, to have that first PGA Tour win so firm in your grasp as you stand on the 18th tee of the final round and not walk away with the trophy, he'll be thinking about the events of that hole for a long time to come, I'm sure.
