PLANO, Texas -- Adams Golf has signed former U.S. Ryder Cup Captain and former PGA Tour Player of the Year Paul Azinger to an endorsement deal, company officials have announced. Azinger will play Adams Golf equipment, wear an Adams Golf hat and carry an Adams Golf staff bag.

Azinger has returned to the role of a rookie this year on the Champions Tour. This next chapter in his golfing life comes after being a longtime member of the PGA Tour, where he spent almost 300 weeks in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings. Azinger is a 12-time winner on the PGA Tour, highlighted by his victory at the 1993 PGA Championship, and has also collected two international trophies and three off-season wins.

After playing on four U.S. Ryder Cup teams, Azinger captained Team USA to a gutsy victory in 2008, and bringing the trophy back to U.S. soil for the first time in nine years.

"Transitioning to the Champions Tour this year has been a fun challenge, and joining one of the top equipment companies like Adams Golf for my inaugural season will motivate me even more as I take on the legends of the game," said Azinger. "After playing and testing a lot of different clubs, I felt most comfortable and confident with Adams Golf equipment. Their success with hybrids is all the talk on tour and their new irons are some of the best I've ever hit. The extensive research and development that is packed into each of their clubs truly translates for me on the course."

Azinger captured his first PGA Tour victory in 1987 and also earned that year's Player of the Year Award. In 1995, he was honored by the Golf Writers Association of America with the Ben Hogan Award, presented to an individual who remains active in golf despite physical handicap or serious illness. When not competing on the Champions Tour, Azinger works as a broadcaster for ESPN/ABC Sports.

"We believe that Paul will be a great representative of our company and we're excited to have him join our tour staff and add even more talent to our Champions Tour team," said Chip Brewer, President and CEO of Adams Golf. "Since the Ryder Cup, the world has witnessed the talent Paul has both as a leader and a competitor. To have a player of such regard trust the performance of our golf clubs is something that we're very proud of and reinforces our commitment to developing world-class equipment for all golfers."

Azinger is the latest addition to the Adams Golf Champions Tour staff, which includes Hall of Fame members Tom Watson and Bernhard Langer.
