California to Host 2010 Senior PGA Professional National Championship

In just 23 days, the Senior PGA Professional National Championship will be contested at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, Calif., and Rancho La Quinta Country Club in La Quinta, Calif. Defending Champion Bill Britton of Rumson, N.J., will lead a 264-player field that consists of PGA Professionals at least 50 years of age, as of the Championship, who have qualified through one of the 41 PGA Sections. The low 35 finishers will qualify for the 2011 Senior PGA Championship, May 25-29, at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky. The top eight finishers, including ties, will receive exemptions into the 2011 Senior PGA Professional National Championship. In addition, the top five finishers will be exempt into the Champions Tour National Qualifying Finals at TPC Eagle Trace, provided they have submitted an entry by the entry deadline. A Look Back at the 2008 Senior PGA Professional National Championship Kirk Hanefeld, a PGA Life Member from Acton, Mass., separated himself from the field by making four consecutive birdies between the 14th and 17th holes to capture the 20th Senior PGA Professional National Championship at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, Calif. Hanefeld finished with a 4-under-par 68 and 10-under-par 278 total for a four-stroke triumph over John Aubrey, PGA head professional at Aubrey's Dubbs Dred Golf Course in Butler, Pa., and Jon Fiedler, a PGA teaching professional at Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo, Calif. Tom Herzan of Findlay, Ohio, two-time Champion Mike San Filippo of Hobe Sound, Fla., Chris Tucker of Fort Mill, S.C., and 2004 Champion Jim White of Lincoln, Neb., shared fourth at 283.
