The 92nd PGA Championship field features 20 PGA Professionals who earned a berth through the 43rd PGA Professional National Championship, June 27-30, at French Lick (Ind.) Resort. PGA NEWS follows the path of the 20 to Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis., and today continues a four-part series that profiles members of the elite delegation to the Season’s Final Major. He tied for second in the 2005 Kentucky PGA Club Professional Championship and was the 2008 Kentucky PGA Player of the Year. Schmuhl won the 2008 Northern California PGA Section Championship and was ruunner-up in the 2007 Match Play Championship. Schmuhlt guided teams from his club to finish runner-up in the 2007 McGladrey Team Championship in Pinehurst, N.C., and returned in 2008 to lead a fourth-place team. A member of the victorious 2009 U.S. PGA Cup Team, Sheftic scored the decisive point at The Carrick on Loch Lomond in Scotland. He is competing in his second consecutive PGA Championship. Sheftic was the winner of the 2008 Tournament Players’ Division Championship and 2006 AB Thorn Tournament. He finished runner-up in the 2004, ’07 Philadelphia Open ... He was runner-up in the 2008 and 2010 PGA Professional National Championships ... Skinner, the 2008 PGA Professional Player of the Year, went unbeaten (4-0-0) for the U.S. PGA Cup Team that returned the Llandudno Trophy back to America in 2009 ... He also was winner of the 1993 Nike (now Nationwide Tour) Shreveport Open and the 1994 Nike/Nationwide Richmond Open ... He was the 2010 PGA Match Play Champion, and winner on the 2006 PGA Winter Tournament Series. One of the top performers in recent years in Georgia PGA Section events, Skinner was the 2006 Georgia PGA Match Play Champion and captured the 2000 Griffin Classic Championship. Skinner qualified four times through PGA Tour Q-School (1990, ’92, ’97, ’98). He was the 2006 Georgia PGA Section Player of the Year.
