How much is J.B. Holmes' putter worth?

J.B. Holmes won the Shell Houston Open with one of the strangest statistical splits in recent PGA Tour history. Holmes led the field in Driving Distance, averaging 312.4 yards per drive, but was dead last in Driving Accuracy, hitting just 44.6 percent of his fairways, according to PGA Tour statistics.

The secret to his victory, however, was something we don't often focus on with long hitters like Holmes – his putting. He birdied nine of his first 12 holes in his Sunday 64, and wound up with 10 one-putts with his Odyssey Metal-X Milled Versa #7 putter. That's a tremendous showing from a player who entered the week ranked 154th on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Putting.

Holmes – whose bag also includes clubs from TaylorMade, Tour Edge and Cleveland – switched from a blade putter to the Metal-X Versa #7 mallet within the last few weeks. It was introduced in 2014 with a suggested retail price of $349.99.

The Metal-X Milled Versa #7 putter is a high-tech milled mallet with a double-bend shaft and one full shaft of offset. The head contains adjustable weights and weighted alignment wings as well as Odyssey's Versa high-contrast alignment and Metal-X Roll Technology – chemically milled oval depressions in the face that increase friction and creates a more controlled and consistent roll.

The Metal-X Milled Versa #7 currently has an estimated trade-in value of $85.75 and an estimated resale value of $155.91, according to the PGA.com Value Guide and Trade-in Network.
