IOC staff member Scanlon named to head up Olympic golf organization

Antony Scanlon has been appointed head of golf’s Olympic organization. Scanlon is an Australian who has been involved with the Olympics since 1998. His job as executive director starts Nov. 1 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Golf returns to the Olympics in 2016. The International Golf Federation announced his appointment Monday. The governing body is represented by major golf organizations around the world. Scanlon has worked since 2004 at the International Olympic Committee as head of Olympic Games Coordination, Operations and Services.
