Charley Hoffman to donate nearly $100K to Vegas Fund

Charley Hoffman stepped up big time.

The longtime Las Vegas resident and former UNLV golfer announced early last week that he would donate all of his Shriners Hospitals for Children earnings at nearby TPC Summerlin to the Direct Impact Fund supporting those impacted by the Oct. 1 mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip.

After a T18 finish in the tournament on Sunday, Hoffman collected $98,600 to put towards the fund.

“You know what? I'm lucky that the Shriners Hospital and the PGA Tour gave me the opportunity to donate and help people here in Las Vegas," he said to Golf Channel. "I called Las Vegas home for 20 years. I went to college here.

"With the stories I've heard this week, there are a lot of people hurting in this city. I just hope to be able to give back hopefully a good check and hopefully do some good."

GolfChannel.com's Nick Menta also reported that custom shoes made for Hoffman last week would be actioned off with proceeds going to the Las Vegas Victims' Fund.
