Kevin Chappell whiffs on recovery shot at Canadian Open

Kevin Chappell began the final round of the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday trailing 54-hole leader and playing partner Charley Hoffman by one stroke.

Chappell quickly lost more ground, however, when he took an incredibly uncharacteristic bogey on the par-5 second hole at Glen Abbey. It wasn't just a bogey on the par-5 hole that was strange for the PGA Tour winner, but how it unfolded.

After a tee shot that sailed left ended up hugging some brush, Chappell was faced with one of those awkward recovery attempts we've all experienced. You know, the kind where you can't take much of a backswing and it throws you completely out of rhythm.

Chappell, try as he might to extract the ball and put it back in play, just... whiffed it:

Chappell was quick to point out to his caddie that his attempt was in fact a whiff.

The second attempt was much better.

A solid bogey all things considered. And credit to Chappell -- he went on to birdie the next two holes.
