Martha Nause leads LPGA's Legends Tour opener

SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. -- Martha Nause shot a 5-under 67 on Saturday to take the first-round lead in The Legends Tour's season-opening Walgreens Charity Classic.

Nause had seven birdies and two bogeys at Grandview Golf Course.

"My driver was on and I only mishit one or two shots out there," Nause said. "I played very solidly and felt really good over the ball and, for the most part, selected the right club for my approaches into these very firm greens."

She won three times on the LPGA Tour.

"I have been working on the mental side and keeping my head in the game," Nause said. "Win or lose, I feel good about my effort and have stopped putting so much pressure on myself, which has really helped my confidence."

Betsy King and Laurie Rinker were a stroke back.

Juli Inkster was two strokes back at 69 along with Rosie Jones, Barb Moxness and Sherri Steinhauer.

The 36-hole event ends Sunday.
