Inkster tied for lead in Legend Tour opener

SUN CITY WEST, Ariz. -- Hall of Famer Juli Inkster shot a 4-under 68 on Saturday for a share of the first-round lead in the Legends Tour's season-opening Walgreens Charity Classic.

The 55-year-old Inkster was tied with Wendy Doolan, Lisa Grimes and Christa Johnson in the 36-hole event at Grandview Golf Course.

"The course is in great shape, so no complaints there," Inkster said. "If I can give myself some chances, maybe a few more putts will go in."

Jane Crafter was a stroke back along with Judy Dickinson, Rosie Jones and Kathryn Young-Robyn. The 66-year-old Dickinson also topped the Legends Honors Division for players 63 and older.

"On this course, you need to be patient," Dickinson said. "The greens are firm, but they are putting really well."

Defending champion Kris Tschetter opened with a 70.
