Chris Stroud made an improbable birdie after his ball somehow rolls back onto the green

Raise your hand if you, like us, think getting the golf ball to do what you want it to do can be challenge. Of course, right? But every once in a while we get one of those seeing-eye breaks that turns an ordinary round into something special. That's what happened yesterday to Chris Stroud and Brian Stuard at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

They finished with a 4-under 68 after Round 1. But that score would likely have been at least a shot or two worse if Stroud hadn't gotten an assist from what we can only refer to as a phantom ball.

Stroud and his partner missed the par-4 eighth green by a matter of inches. They and officials noticed the ball was moving. Check out what happened next as they waited for it to come to a halt:

The assist gave Stroud a better look at the hole. His birdie putt is below at the :43 mark:
