BOISE, Idaho – Steven Alker of New Zealand shot a 6-under 65 to grab lead after the third round of the Web.com Tour's Albertsons Boise Open on Saturday.

Alker's 20-under 193 total broke the tournament record by two strokes and put the 42-year-old in position for his second win this season.

Alker has a two-shot lead over Steven Wheatcroft (65) and Zack Sucher (68), who held the first-day lead and shared it after 36 holes.

Rookie Justin Thomas matched the low score of the day with a 7-under 64 that moved him to 16 under and tied for fourth with veteran Bill Lunde.

Alker had a bogey on the first hole, but rebounded on consecutive par-5s with a birdie and then a 35-foot chip-in for eagle.
