Tom served PGA apprenticeships as assistant professional at Shaker Heights Country Club, Ohio, Olympia Fields Country Club, Illinois, and John's Island Club in Vero Beach, Florida. Tom was selected Head Golf Professional at Sankaty Head Golf Club on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts and elevated to Head Professional at John's Island. He moved to the head of the golf operation at Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania in 1977, and from 1981 to 1997 was the Head Golf Professional at Sunset Ridge Country Club in Northfield, Illinois. From 1998 to 2001 Tom was the Head Golf Professional at Governors Club in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Tom began his tenure as Director of Golf at Quintero Golf and Country Club in Peoria, Arizona, in July, 2002, and additionally was named General Manager in November, 2009. In July, 2013 he was named Director of Golf Operations at Blackstone Country Club in Peoria, Arizona. He has served both the Philadelphia and Illinois Sections of the PGA in several leadership positions, written over two dozen articles published in golf magazines, spoken at numerous PGA education seminars and presented more than ten teaching workshops to the professional golf management programs at Ferris State and New Mexico State Universities. More than forty of his former assistant professionals and junior golfers have advanced to head golf professional positions. Tom became a PGA Master Professional in 1986 and his master's thesis on employment, "Putting Your Best Foot Forward" was published in Golf Shop Operations Magazine. He won the Philadelphia Section Horton Smith Award for education in 1980 and the Illinois award in 1983 and 1988. His golf shop was named to the top 100 by Golf Shop Operations from 1987 to 1990, one of twenty private club shops so honored. He served as president of the Illinois PGA Foundation and is a national member of Golf Digest's top 100 courses national panel, currently serving as co-captain of the Arizona Panelists.
