Daniel Iceman Wins Event No. 3 of PGA Tournament Series Presented By Golf Advisor
PORT ST. LUCIE, Florida (Dec. 8, 2017) -- Daniel Iceman lived up to his surname Friday.
Iceman shot a 1-under 71 in windy conditions to win Event No. 3 of the PGA Tournament Series, edging Frank Bensel by a shot. Iceman cooly made a 13-foot par putt on the 18th hole.
“I left myself a little more than I wanted to on that last putt. This is my first PGA win outside of Kentucky,” said Iceman, a PGA Assistant Professional at Weissinger Hills Golf Club in Shelbyville.

Iceman, who was playing in just his second PGA Tournament Series event, finished at 6-under 138 on the Wanamaker Course. He had it as low as nine-under, but made two bogeys on the back nine and a double bogey at the difficult par-3 17th. His lead down to one, he split the fairway and hit the green at No 18.
“I knew after the double, I knew I still had a one-shot lead and I just had to step up and hit the shots,” Iceman said. He earned $5,000 for the win.
Bensel matched Iceman’s 71 and might have forced a playoff without three-putting the par-5 16th for par.
“It was hard, but I was surprised 6-under won,” said Bensel said. “I thought it might be 8-under.”
Ben Cook shot the day’s best round (a 68) to finish alone in third. Rich Berberian (69) and Omar Uresti tied for fourth place at 141.
