A Quick Nine: The best Texas courses for every golfer

Every now and again, we like to call on our friends in certain states -- or friends who have visited those certain states -- to help us find the best golf courses available to the public.

This time around, the spotlight is on Texas, the Lone Star State and the largest of the 48 contiguous United States. Don't worry; we realize everything is bigger in Texas -- including its place in the annals of golf history.

So, which are the best public golf courses in the state of Texas? Check them out below, as told to us by our trusty Facebook friends. Agree? Disagree? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page and tell us why.

Editor's note: If you see a course on this list that you've played, please click its name and leave a review on the course page.

9. Brackenbridge Park Golf Course, San Antonio, Texas. Brackenridge Park Golf Course is the oldest public golf course in Texas and the first ever host to the Texas Open Golf Tournament in 1922. This historic golf course has the honor of being the first inductee into the Texas Golf Hall of Fame. A round of golf at Brackenbridge can be had for less than $50.

8. Barton Creek Resort & Spa, Fazio Foothills in Austin, Texas. According to its website:

This unforgettable golfing experience provides plenty of elevation change and visual impact... The Fazio Foothills course, established in 1986, ranks at the top of all experts' lists.
