National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship unveils a new name

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (Dec. 8, 2015) – Since its inception in 1977, the Assistant PGA Professional Championship has assembled some of the most talented members of the PGA of America who would become models of the caliber of PGA Professionals making up the Association.
Formerly the National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship, the 132-player field assembling in October 2016 at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, will compete in the newly-titled 40th National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship.
The Assistant PGA Professional Championship field is composed of representatives from 41 nationwide Section Championships conducted in the late summer and fall of 2016. The Champion, if eligible, advances to compete in the following year's PGA Professional Championship.
"The National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship is both a national showcase of our best playing assistant and apprentice PGA Professionals, as well as a tremendous competitive opportunity," said PGA President Derek Sprague. "Events such as this cultivate our future leaders and celebrate their on-course achievements and competitive spirit."
The 40th National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship will be contested Oct. 27-30, 2016, at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
