Tiger Woods shoots lowest score since 2013 in opening round of BMW Championship
Tiger Woods is certainly having an outstanding week. This past Tuesday, Tiger, Phil Mickelson, and Bryson DeChambeau earned the first three captain's picks to the 2018 U.S. Ryder Cup team. This Thursday, he's in the clubhouse at the BMW Championship sitting at 8-under after Round 1, his 62 tying the second-best lowest round of his career.
Woods came out firing at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, with an opening nine 29, the second-lowest score through nine holes of his entire career. His best 9-hole score was a 28 in the 2007 Tour Championship, and his 29 on Thursday matched four other instances, most recently at the WGC Mexico in 2006.

The birdies started flowing on the first hole and kept rolling throughout the day. Tiger was bogey-free through nine, sinking four birdies and eagling the par-5 16th, his seventh hole of the day.

Tiger's final nine wasn't as clean, as he bogeyed the par-3 eighth hole, his only blemish on an otherwise perfect day, but rebounded quickly on his final hole with a birdie, closing his day at an 8-under 62. Per PGA Tour Communications, it's the lowest round on the PGA Tour for Tiger since shooting a 61 at the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational, which he won, and ties the second-lowest round of his career, which he's done five times, most recently at the 2012 Honda Classic. Have yourself a week, Tiger.
