PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (Feb. 8, 2016) – Defending champion Adam Rainaud of South Hadley, Mass., has a first-round bye in the 53rd PGA Match Play Championship that starts Tuesday at the Dye Course at PGA Golf Club.

Rainaud advances through the Round of 64 because Andy Hardiman of Stuart was disqualified from Monday’s qualifier on the Ryder Course after he signed an incorrect scorecard. That left the field at 63 players.

Jeff Sorensen, Kirk Stauffer and Jonathan Mansfield shot 4-under 68s Monday to share medalist honors in the qualifier. Sorenson, the No. 2 seed, plays Jeff Wibben; Stauffer (No. 3) plays David Reasoner; and No. 4 Mansfield plays Gary Trivisonno.

The Match Play Championship is the final event of the PGA Winter Championship season sponsored by Premier Golf and Golf Advisor.
