Registration spots for tickets to the 2018 PGA Championship in St. Louis are filling up fast
ST. LOUIS -- The eyes of the golf and sports world will be on St. Louis in August 2018 when the 100th PGA Golf Championship takes place at Bellerive Country Club.
Site of the 1965 U.S. Open when Gary Player completed his career Grand Slam and the 1992 PGAChampionship when Nick Price had his name added to the Wanamaker Trophy, Bellerive Country Club will once again host a major championship.
This one will take place Aug. 6-12, 2018.
Tournament Director Barry Deach said Monday that all 4,000 volunteer positions for the championship have been filled and that the interest in the ticket registration for all seven days of the championship is being recorded at a similar rate.
"I'm not surprised in the least," Deach said following the media day press conference on Monday. "The people of St. Louis and of the metropolitan area are passionate about their sports and especially professional golf.
"A milestone event like this doesn't come around very often in sports and that makes every day of the championship next year pretty special."
The PGA Championship promises a boost to the St. Louis economy, with an estimated 80,000 people from outside the region expected.
"And we estimate 100,000 people from the St. Louis area will also be on the grounds of Bellerive that week," said Brian Hall, chief marketing director for Explore St. Louis. "The overall economic impact for the region will be about $100 million."
Tickets will be sold through an online registration program. The earlier fans register the better positioned they will be to access the most popular tickets types when they go on sale following the 2017 PGA Championship in August.
Ticket registration is currently underway and will conclude on August 13. Fans should visit www.pga.com/pgachampionship/2018/ to register. There is no fee to register and no obligation to buy tickets.
The window to purchase tickets will be based on the date of registration.
Tickets will come in three price tiers from Monday through the championship.
Daily grounds tickets for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday includes access to the championship grounds at Bellerive for the specific day purchased and are priced at $35 each.
Daily grounds tickets for Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday are $100 each.
Week-long grounds tickets are $325 each.
Fans 17 and younger will be admitted free to the PGA Championship. Each ticketed adult can bring up to four juniors each day at no charge. Junior tickets will be available at admissions and will call at the main entrance.
Admission is also free to active and retired service men and women.
