Tiger Woods loses Skins Game for charity during his first visit to India

NEW DELHI, India – Tiger Woods made his first visit ever to India this week, but he wasn't able to achieve his first victory there.

 

Woods and teammate Pawan Munjal – the chairman of Hero Motors and the man who arranged for Woods' visit – lost a charity skins game to pro players Shiv Kapur and Anirban Lahiri on Tuesday. Kapur played college golf at Purdue and is a European Tour regular, while Lahiri has played in the British Open.

 

Woods did his part, though – he made 10 birdies at Delhi Golf Club during the match, according to the GolfingIndian website. The site also posted a video in which Woods said that the course was the narrowest he's ever played and that he was nervous on some of the tee shots. He also said he hopes the exhibition helps to promote junior golf in India. 

 

The event was closed to the public but witnessed by Delhi Golf Club members, according to press reports. Woods received about $2.2 million for the appearance, they said. 

 

Hero Motor Group makes motorcycles and scooters. Munjal met Woods when visiting the Tavistock Cup in Orlando, Fla.
