Pat Perez is making his first career appearance at the Tour Championship this week and he sure is making the most of the opportunity.

He knows the odds are long of him winning the FedEx Cup, but they get a little better with shots like this.

On the par-4 16th hole -- yes, the same hole that Rory McIlroy also famously holed out on last year en route to his Tour Championship and FedEx Cup wins -- Perez hit his 173-yard approach without being able to see the flagstick. That didn't matter much because the crowd told him everything he needed to know about the shot.

 

 

Let's take another look at that celebration:

 

 

In the annals of club toss history, that one has to be ranked pretty high. He might be the oldest player in the field this week, but he's certainly one of the most spirited. Perez is sitting at 4-under heading into the weekend, just three shots off the lead.
