Golf gives and it takes. For most of us, the latter is more prominent, but Patrick Reed found a happy equilibrium Sunday at the Northern Trust.
Reed's approach on the Par-5 third hole was right on target, a bit too much though. It careened off the flagstick and embedded in a greenside bunker.
As Reed got set for his fourth, commentator Nick Faldo was optimistic. "Let's see if he can do it again," Faldo said. "Hit the flag again and go in."
And it was spoken into existence, with Reed's fourth dropping into the cup for a birdie:

Faldo was quick to take credit for his premonition. "What a call that was live, folks," he said. "I'll take the rest of the day off, thank you very much."
