WATCH: Si Woo Kim hits driver off the deck at US Open

Si Woo Kim is making a habit out of using the big dog away from the tee box this season.

After successfully using driver out of the rough (yes, the rough...) en route to his win at The Players, Kim stepped things up and decided to pull out his driver on the big stage at the U.S. Open to try and reach the par-5 No. 1 green in two.

It turned out to be a great success as he made an easy birdie on the hole. He might want to consider ditching the tee on the tee box after these results -- his drive went 283 yards, while his second shot went 286 (we're kidding, of course).

It also helped Kim continue his move up the leaderboard. Through 13 holes, he's at 6-under and one shot off the lead of Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele.
