I have been playing golf since the age of four and became a scratch golfer in high school. While in the military during the mid-eighties, I recaptured my scratch status and won several military type championships. In 1988 I took a part time job at the local on base golf course while still in the military. I then started learning how to teach golf under the tutelage of Leon "Spanky' Moody. In 1990, I separated from the Army as a disabled veteran to run one of the on base courses and start my journey as a PGA Professional. For the last 33 years I have specialized in rebuilding underperforming courses and teaching/ promoting junior golf, beginning golfers, and occasional I give lessons to a few scratch golfers. During this time I have been on the final ballot of the Texas Golf Hall of Fame three times (2013, 14, and 16) for career achievement and currently help a team overseeing operations, and player/ program development for 55 Air Force courses around the world. In addition to my current job, I am part of a team from the STPGA that host junior golf tournaments around the area. I am proudly working my 14th season with them. I am also co-host of the longest running golf show in the State of Texas. (17 Years) My most famous student to date has been Hall of Fame basketball player Tim Duncan and my most successful has been Ty Roberts. (128 wins) I have taught over 5,000 lessons in my career to the military, juniors, beginners and avid golfers. I am currently writing a book " Golf Uncomplicated" 4 easy steps to play well and enjoy your game. The release date is spring of 2024. My passion is to grow the game at all levels and give back to a sport that has afforded me to make it a career.
