Gregory Howard
PGA Golf InstructorGreg was born in Washington DC and grew up in Northern Virginia. He later moved to Maryland in his teens. A hockey player from the age of 4, Greg spent his youth hitting slap shots rather than chip shots. Although his mother was an accomplished golfer and member at Pinehurst, Greg’s interest in the game wasn’t sparked until a close friend took him out to play at the age of 24, at which time he fell instantly in love with the game.
At 24 Greg took a part time position at a local golf course in order to support his newly found golf habit. Living on a music teachers salary, working part time at a course allowed him to play and develop his game. Greg was able to break 80 the first year he played and broke par in his second year. From there he made the decision to become a PGA Member and has spent his professional life in the golf industry having worked at some of the areas finest facilities including TPC Potomac, Holly Hills, Maryland National, and Raspberry Falls to name a few.
Some of Greg’s playing highlights include being the low medalist in his PAT (playing ability test), he holds two course record rounds of 65 and 64, and he also played a season on the Tar Heel Tour. A fun side note is that Greg has had three holes in one, all with the same club, an 8 iron. One from 146 yards, one from 158 yards, and one from 198 yards!
A life long student and teacher of the game Greg has read 100’s of instructional books, he has worked with Top 100 golf instructors, and studies the swings of top players in his spare time for fun! His enthusiasm for this great game is contagious. He understands that instruction can be daunting and he strives to make learning an enjoyable experience that ultimately leads to better play.
Greg is the proud father of three great adult kids Joshua, Christian, and Emma. In his spare time he can be found riding his mountain bike, playing music, working out and walking his dog Chloe.
