My journey in golf began when I was 12 and I played with my father, and I fell in love with the game. There were few junior programs in those days, so I didn't get much instruction until I started to work at Ridgemont CC in Rochester as a bag room attendant. I worked at Ridgemont through college, where I was instructed by several professionals during those years.

During my sophomore year at college, I developed type 1 diabetes, which stifled my golf playing due to insulin reactions, but I practiced and developed my swing to learn more about the teaching.

I turned professional in 1973 and served as an assistant for 4 years in Rochester and Elmira, New York. Then, as head professional in Tucson, Arizona, until 1990, and then Director of Training and Sales for the Henry-Griffitts Golf Club company until 2006, one of the first true custom fitting companies.

I then returned to teaching in 2006, starting my academy, RJM Golf Academy in Naples, Florida, where I stayed until 2013 when I moved to Tualatin, Oregon, as Director of Instruction until 2020 when I became the Director of Player Development at my present location, Canterwood Golf and CC in Gig Harbor, Washington.

Golf has taught me a great deal and has been very good to me and my family. Listed below are some of the awards that have come to me during my career. My purpose in teaching is to help the student develop an enjoyment of the game
