2026 Campbell's Scottish Highlands PGA Jr. League Program

Thank you for your interest in the PGA Jr Program at Scottish Highlands. This will be Coach Ian's 3rd year running the program at CSHGC and 10th year overall. A couple of things before I present the schedule. Nothing is ever mandatory in the program. If you can not make a practice I don't need to know. If you can not make a match I 100% need to know for pairings sake. I send out an attendance email every Saturday to remind the group to let me know if you can not attend the match the next day. As far as parental participation, if your child is young and can not navigate the golf course I ask that at least 1 parent/guardian is there to guide them around. I ask all adults to resist the urge to over coach and not give detailed instruction on every shot. I am a firm believer that the kids learn from their mistakes and I know from experience they do not want to be told what to do on every shot. They are also far more likely to listen to me, not you. Sorry, I've been told that a million times over the years. This is a fun and developmental program not one where we are training for future PGA Tour events. If your child is at that skill level they should be playing tournament golf and I am more than happy to talk to you about the options that are available. The kids will learn on Day 1 and be reminded often. I have 3 rules: Safety Have fun Get a little better at golf Practices will start at the driving range where I will instruct and the kids will work on all aspects of the game such as full swing, chipping and putting, etiquette, scoring etc. After about 50 minutes we get in our cars head up the hill to the golf course and I pair the kids and fire them off both the front and back 9's. You can play as many holes as you want/can till dark or cart return time. Cart rentals for practices and matches is 5 dollars and can be paid in the pro shop. Sunday matches follows the format of a 2 person scramble in which the kids have to work together to always pick the best shot. I set the course up shorter for the kids and we do a double bogey limit. The number of holes they play is always situational and is a group discussion on what's best for the kids. The schedule: Saturday June 20th 3:30pm Preseason practice/get together (driving range only) Wednesday practices 6pm driving range followed by on course golf 6/24 7/1 7/8 7/15 7/22 7/29 8/5 8/12 8/19 (golf course only) Matches: 5pm Sundays 6/28 No 7/5 cause of holiday 7/12 7/19 7/26 8/2 8/9 8/16 8/22 or 8/23 wrap up the season with away match (course and time TBD) The schedule accounts for rain outs so if we do have them practices or matches are not made up

Our PGA JUNIOR LEAGUE Team is Captained by Doug Van Wickler, PGA and Coached by Head Golf Professional Lucas Langelier, Asst. Professional Sean Pride and other capable adults. Doug is a 25+ year PGA Member, Maine PGA Teacher of the Year and Golf Professional of the Year and has been recognized by the PGA of America for his efforts to grow the game. He has been involved with PGA JR LEAGUE since 2016. Join our 13U team at Cochecho Country Club. Our program is designed for boys and girls ages 5-13. Players learn together and play together in a two-person scramble format. Our goal is to continue developing junior golfers of all skill levels into more competitive players while preparing them for the highest level of their future goals in golf and life with an emphasis on having FUN! We will have a fun meet and great before the start of the season where players meet teammates, parents meet other parents and of course the coaches. This is where ALL your questions are answered and the FUN starts! Practice will be held on Tuesday evenings from 5:00-6:30pm. We can provide equipment, if needed. Matches are typically held on Sundays, and are usually scheduled at 4:00pm and run for two hours or 9-holes, whichever comes first. We have lots of fun and very productive practices. ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME!!! COME OUT, HAVE FUN AND JOIN OUR TEAM!!!
