Meet Jazz Janewattananond, who's tied for 2nd at Bethpage Black after Round 3

Brooks Koepka leads and there are several others lurking, kind of, seven shots behind. But there's one name near the top of the 2019 PGA Championship leaderboard many golf fans might not be familiar with. That is Jazz Janewattananond.

Janewattananond sits tied for second place and five shots under par with one round to go.

Here are some key things to know about him.

His first name is Atiwit; Jazz is a nickname

"My father loved jazz music," he explained at his first PGA Championship. "Apparently, that didn't come through me. But, yeah, I like all kinds of music. Maybe the name helps."

He's only 23 years old

Janewattananond is a rookie on the European Tour and lives in Thailand.

He came into the weekend the No. 72 golfer in the world

But that is sure to rise after his (thus far) phenomenal PGA Championship performance.

His name is pronounced 'JANNA -watta- NON-nond'

His only other major appearance? The 2018 Open Championship

He failed to make the cut. Janewattananond is certainly blowing expectations out of the water in his second major.

He is currently first on the Asian Tour Order of Merit

Janewattananond has a win and four other top-10 finishes in seven events there.

This weekend is his first time in New York and a friend showed him around the big city

"I arrived last Friday. I go out with my friends. He's from Jersey, so he's local," Janewattananond said. "Take me out to see all of Manhattan, what's it all about. Kind of a wow moment. Maybe I didn't get over that. I didn't feel the pressure on the golf course."
