Rory McIlroy smashes drive 360 yards onto 18th green at St. Andrews

Rory McIlroy is teeing it up this week in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the European Tour. The tournament is played over three incredible Scottish links courses -- the Old Course at St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.

In Thursday's first round, McIlroy played at St. Andrews.

While the round was otherwise unforgettable -- he shot a 1-over 73 and was tied for 93rd at the time of this post -- McIlroy did provide a special moment on the famous final hole.

Playing at 360 yards Thursday, McIlroy absolutely piped a drive that rolled up onto the green and settled within 8 feet of the cup.

McIlroy would miss the eagle putt, but tapped in for his fourth birdie of the day to go against three bogeys and a double bogey.
