John Daly, Bernhard Langer headline Senior Players at Cricket Club

Bernhard Langer, the leading money winner on the PGA Tour Champions, and crowd favorite John Daly highlight the field that will participate in this week's Constellation Senior Players Championship at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown.

A field of 81 players, including the top 32 and 47 of the top 50 on the money list, will begin competition Thursday in the third major of the tour season, a 72-hole event that runs through Sunday. Practice rounds will be played Tuesday with a Pro-Am on Wednesday over the Wissahickon course at the Cricket Club.

Langer, 58, who contended in the final round of this year's Masters, has won two Champions tournaments and more than $1 million this season. He is a two-time defending champion of this event, having won in 2014 at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh and in 2015 at Belmont Country Club near Boston.

Daly, who became eligible for the PGA Tour Champions after turning 50 in April, will be competing in his fifth tour event. A two-time major champion on the PGA Tour, Daly has been well-known for his long drives and a deft touch with his short game.

Woody Austin, who has won three tournaments this year on tour, also will be in the field as well as the six other tournament winners from 2016: Rocco Mediate, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Duffy Waldorf, Estaban Toledo, Jesper Parnevik, Scott McCarron and Michael Allen.

Top 10 money winners in the field include Langer, Austin, Waldorf, Mediate, McCarron, Jimenez, Billy Andrade, Colin Montgomerie, Tom Lehman and David Frost.

Past major champions in the field include Langer, Lehman, Tom Watson, Vijay Singh, Mark Brooks, Mark Calcavecchia, Todd Hamilton, Lee Janzen, Tom Kite, Sandy Lyle, Larry Mize, Mark O'Meara, Jeff Sluman and Bob Tway.
