Add this to the list of reasons why the fans love Phil Mickelson.

Playing the 18th hole at TPC Boston in the pro-am round of the Dell Technologies Championship on Thursday, Mickelson noticed a junior golfer along the ropes close to where his ball was and engaged him in a quick conversation.

Mickelson was preparing to hit a 3-wood from the rough for his second shot on the par 5 and asked the youngster, Riley, what he would do in that situation -- go for it, or lay up?

Riley's answer was perfect:

"I like how you think," Mickelson said.

And after he pulled the shot off -- typical Phil -- he said, "Riley, you can caddie for me anytime."
