Tiger Woods commits to Farmers Insurance Open, Genesis Open

Now we know when we'll be seeing Tiger Woods in his first official PGA Tour event since the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

Early Thursday afternoon, via his Twitter account, Woods acknowledged that he has committed to play the 2018 Farmers Insurance Open (Jan. 25-28), as well as the Genesis Open at Riviera three weeks later (Feb. 15-18).

Woods, who turned 42 on Dec. 30, last played a full season on the PGA Tour in 2013. In 16 events that season, Woods won five times and finished second in the FedExCup standings.

Since then, the 14-time major winner has been plagued by back issues and the time needed to recover from the corrective surgeries.

Woods made his return to competitive golf after just over 300 days away back in December at his own Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas. He finished in a tie for ninth in the 18-player field.

Given that he's seemingly healthy, his return at Torrey Pines should come as no surprise. He has won there eight times in his career, including his last major -- the 2008 U.S. Open.

The addition of the Genesis Open at Riviera -- a tournament he hasn't played since a withdrawal in 2006 -- also isn't much of a surprise. Woods's charitable group -- the Tiger Woods Foundation -- is now the tournament's primary beneficiary.
