Lydia Ko forced to withdraw from Volunteers of America Texas Shootout

Lydia Ko is out in Texas.

Ko battled the pollen-filled airs of Irvine, Texas early in the week, which culminated in a viral eye infection, forcing the 20 year old to withdraw from the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout.

Ko, of course, is the top golfer on the LPGA Tour, reaching No. 1 at just 17 years of age, the youngest ever. She has dealt with eye irritation before, however it did not force her to withdraw from last year's ANA Inspiration. Ko was able to proceed in that tournament using a contact lens in one eye, which doctors said wouldn't be feasible in Texas.

The infection shouldn't cause her to miss much time.

She came out and shot a 1-under in Thursday's opening round, but a 73 on Friday left her one over par when she withdrew.
