Wyndham officials scramble in advance of Tiger Woods

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- He's coming.

Tiger Woods will play in the Wyndham Championship this week, the first time he's played in Greensboro.

Woods' agent Mark Steinberg and Wyndham tournament director Mark Brazil just confirmed it. No word on when the 14-time majors winner will arrive.

After missing the cut in the PGA Championship, Woods went home before deciding whether he would play in the final regular-season event before the FedEx Cup playoffs. Woods has yet to qualify for the playoffs, needing to get to 125th in the standings. He likely needs to win the Wyndham to qualify.

Steinberg said Woods wants to play Sedgefield Country Club for the first time. Sedgefield is the only Donald Ross course on the PGA Tour's regular schedule. The tournament starts Thursday.

"We discussed it in detail over the weekend," Steinberg told ESPN. "It was not appropriate to confirm during the PGA Championship. "Tiger has heard great things about the event and is looking forward to the week."

Brazil, upon hearing from Woods' camp, tweeted the following.

"Bam Tiger is coming!"

Tournament officials will now print more tickets, re-work bus service to and from the course and increase the media center area.

Woods will likely address the media on Tuesday, which is his normal routine. No word on when he will arrive in Greensboro.
