Last year: Matt Jones won with a 42-yard birdie chip on the first hole of a playoff with Matt Kuchar. Jones made a 46-foot birdie putt on the final hole of regulation.
 
Last week: Jimmy Walker won his hometown Texas Open for his fifth victory in the last two seasons. Fellow Texan Jordan Spieth was second, four strokes back.
 
Notes: The Masters is next week at Augusta National. ... Walker, Spieth, Kuchar, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Rickie Fowler, Martin Kaymer, Hunter Mahan, Lee Westwood and Ernie Els are in the field. Spieth won three weeks ago at Innisbrook.

Last year: Lexi Thompson won her first major title and fourth tour victory, beating Michelle Wie by three strokes. The 19-year-old Thompson became the second youngest major champion in LPGA Tour history.
 
Last week: Cristie Kerr won the Kia Classic at Aviara in Carlsbad for her 17th LPGA Tour title. Mirim Lee was second, two strokes back.
 
Notes: The event, first played in 1972 as the Colgate Dinah Shore, became a major in 1983. ... Top-ranked Lydia Ko has two worldwide victories this year, winning the tour's Women's Australian Open and the Ladies European Tour's New Zealand Women's Open in consecutive weeks. The 17-year-old New Zealander has 10 straight top-10 finishes and has broken par in her last 28 LPGA Tour rounds, one short of the record set by Annika Sorenstam in 2004. ... Morgan Pressel won in 2007 to become the youngest major champion in LPGA Tour history at 18 years, 10 months, 9 days.
