KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (March 3, 2020) - The PGA of America launched ticket and volunteer registration today for the 2021 PGA Championship, contested May 17 - 23 at The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. The 2021 PGA Championship will be the second major championship played in South Carolina at The Ocean Course. In addition to the 2012 PGA Championship, The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort played host to the famous 1991 Ryder Cup, won in thrilling fashion by the United States.
Nikki Haley, the former Governor of South Carolina and United States Ambassador to the UN was at Kiawah Island Golf Resort to help make the announcement. Haley, who was instrumental in bringing the PGA Championship to the state during her time as Governor, is serving as Co-Chair of the Championship Council, a group formed to support the event’s corporate engagement efforts and sale of hospitality packages.
During a brief press event in front of local, regional and national media, Haley, Roger Warren, the President of Kiawah Island Golf Resort and Scott Reid, the 2021 PGA Championship Director spoke about the event’s anticipated impact on the region and the palpable excitement already being felt more than a year in advance of the Championship.

Between their remarks, videos played featuring comments from CBS broadcasters, Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo and South Carolina native Dustin Johnson. All three reflected back on their experiences at the 2012 PGA Championship and expressed their anticipation for a return to The Ocean Course in 2021.
“When I look back to Kiawah in 2012, my mind is flooded with a lot of good thoughts. Rory (McIlroy) at his best setting a record by margin of victory and one of the most beautiful stages we’ve ever had for a major championship,” said Jim Nantz. “the whole surrounding area… the whole Charleston community supported this major championship with gusto. I mean it was awesome to see.”
