Meet the Team of 20 Competing in the 2020 PGA Championship - Part II

The 2020 PGA Championship is fast approaching and the ‘Team of 20’ PGA Professionals competing will be looking to make their mark at TPC Harding Park.
The 2020 PGA Professional Championship -- which had been scheduled for July 19-22 at the Fazio Foothills and Coore Crenshaw Cliffside courses at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas -- was canceled on June 29 due to COVID-19. That meant the top 20 on the 2019 PGA Player of the Year list were eligible for the 2020 PGA Championship.
We’ll be taking a look at the ‘Team of 20’ over the next few weeks leading into the championship. Here are five of the PGA Professionals who will be teeing it up at TPC Harding Park Aug. 6-9.
Jason Caron
Club/Facility: Mill River Club, Inc., Oyster Bay, New York
Metropolitan Section
Jason Caron will be playing in his second-straight PGA Championship after debuting last year at Bethpage Black. A PGA Tour member from 2000-03, finishing tied for 30th at the 2002 U.S. Open Championship. Caron played collegiately at Charleston Southern University and was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010.
Benny Cook
Club/Facility: Yankee Springs Golf Course, Caledonia, Michigan
Michigan Section
Benny Cook will be the youngest PGA Club Professional in the field at age 26, playing in his second career PGA Championship. Cook finished 2-1-1 as an integral part of winning U.S. Team effort in the 2019 PGA Cup. A two-time Division II All-American and GLIAC Player of the year at Ferris State, Cook holds the school's records for single-round and tournament scores.
Judd Gibb
Club/Facility: Lakeside Municipal Golf Course, Fort Dodge, Iowa
Iowa Section
Judd Gibb is one of four PGA Club Professionals in the field making their PGA Championship Debut. He is a four-time Iowa PGA Section Assistant Championship and is a five-time Iowa PGA Section Player of the Year. Gibb is slated to be inducted into the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame in September.
Jeff Hart
Club/Facility: PGA of America Life Member, Solana Beach, California
Southern California Section
Jeff Hart will also be making his PGA Championship debut at TPC Harding Park. He made 181 career starts on the PGA Tour from 1985-2005 and joined the PGA Tour Champions in 2010. In 2015, Hart turned in his best performance on the PGA Tour Champions with a tied for third-place finish at the Regions Tradition.
Marty Jertson
Club/Facility: Ping Golf, Inc.
Southwest Section
Marty Jertson will make his fifth career PGA Championship start and third since 2018 when he tees off at TPC Harding Park. Jertson made the cut for the first time last year at Bethpage Black after posting a 69 on Friday. He will also play in the 120th U.S. Open Championship at Winged Foot Club after finishing in the top three of the 2019 Professional Player of the Year Standings presented by Omega.
