Patrick Reed and Bryson DeChambeau battled it out in Mexico City over the weekend with Reed capturing his eighth PGA Tour victory at the WGC Mexico Championship.
Both Reed and DeChambeau are now also positioned well in the battle for Ryder Cup USA qualifying spots.
The win moved Reed up nine spots to No. 3 behind Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson.
DeChambeau still sits outside of the top eight, but he jumped up 14 spots from 27th to No. 13 with his runner-up finish to get into the mix.
Xander Schauffele (4th), Webb Simpson (5th), Gary Woodland (6th), Justin Thomas (7th) and Tiger Woods (8th) round out the players currently in the automatic qualifying spots.
The Ryder Cup takes place from Sept. 25-27 at Whistling Straits in Kohler, WI. Golfers vying for a spot on the U.S. team will have the opportunity to earn points each week on the PGA Tour. Bonus points are available during the major championships, The Players and the WGC events.
