In 2013, at the annual PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Marc Haddad brought an idea to the PGA of America. The idea: create a national summer golf camp platform to help PGA Members grow the game across the country.
And now, 9 years later, PGA Junior Golf Camps are providing a fun, educational experience that provides another reason for kids to go outside and play.
“After a year or so of business plan writing, committee meetings and approvals, the PGA Junior Golf Camps were born,” said Haddad. “We launched with very little fanfare in the summer of 2015 with 20 locations spread out across the United States. We had a successful year one and proved the concept would be welcomed by both PGA Members and customers, and we have been growing like a weed ever since.”
The mission of PGA Junior Golf Camp Director is simple.
“In my opinion, it's two-fold. We have two customers, the PGA Professional and the junior golfer. My mission is to check these two boxes. First, to help grow the book of business for the local PGA Professional through our summer camps. And secondly, to introduce youth to the game that we all love. This is truly a game of a lifetime that can be shared with families for their entire lives.”
There are various types of camps that are run through PGA Junior Golf Camps.
“Our camp options run the gamut of every conceivable camper we could possibly have. We offer new golfer camps for as young as 5 and camps for competitive players as old as 17.”
And parents are able to choose from a wide variety of offerings depending on the local facility.
“We have 175 golf facilities, from traditional green grass facilities to indoor ones, that offer our camps.”
