CJ Schmid
University of Idaho PGM Assistantstudent
CJ Schmid works for the University of Idaho as an assistant for the Professional Golf Management program, moving to the Moscow area in 2025. Prior to this, CJ worked for the Southwest Section as the Southern Nevada Chapter Director and was previously Canyon Gate Country Club's Player Development Professional & Director of Instruction in Las Vegas, NV. CJ has used his experience to help grow the game of golf through thousands of lessons through a mix of "old-school" lessons and a modern approach of group playing lessons, PGA Junior League, and utilizing launch monitor and biomechanics technologies.
A lifelong golfer born and raised in a small town just north of Los Angeles, CJ has spent his golf career dedicating time to growing the game of golf through multiple avenues in both traditional and creative manners. After playing junior golf tournaments and in high school for Quartz Hill High School, played amateur golf events before taking the leap into working in the golf industry in 2016. CJ spent time working within the TPC Network and at Legacy Golf Club before teaching full-time at Canyon Gate Country Club in 2022.
While teaching at Canyon Gate, part of CJ's tenure included coaching PGA Junior League All-Star teams to Regional tournaments for three straight years, coaching the 2023 PGA Junior League Southwest Sectional Championship team, and coaching at Faith Lutheran High School as their Girl's Golf coach the last three seasons and bringing the school their first State Tournament appearance in nearly a decade.
When he is not actively growing the game of golf, CJ enjoys visiting his mother and three younger brothers back in Southern California, visiting new places (even if the beaches of Los Angeles will always be his favorite), and being upset over how his favorite sports teams are playing that week.
