Crae W. Fields, PGA
On April 9, 1970, Crae Wallace Fields was born as the only son to Larry and Jennie Fields in El Paso, Texas, at William Beaumont Hospital. By the age of six, Crae had a golf club in his hands and has been a student of the game ever since.
Crae's introduction to the golf industry started at the Southern California Golf Association's Members Club (SCGAMC). Located in Murrietta, California, just North of Temecula. He was hired as an Assistant Golf Professional and served for one year and 6 months. Shortly after he and his wife, Adrienne, moved to Albuquerque, NM, he started as an entry-level assistant at Santa Ana Golf Club (SAGC). The Next Move was to Twin Warriors Golf Club, a sister property of (SAGC), and the first destination resort in the State of New Mexico, where he trained and managed an Ambassador Staff of 60 while performing all Assistant Professional Duties. Continuing to Climb, Crae moved back to SAGC, where he took on the role of Tournament Coordinator at the busiest tournament course in the entire Sun Country Section of the PGA, SAGC. The next season, the Tournament Director position at TWGC opened, and who would have guessed, Crae then took over that position and represented TWGC as their Tournament Director.
During his climb of the corporate ladder at SAGC and TWGC, Crae worked diligently on attaining his Class "A" Membership in the PGA of America. So diligent that he achieved his class "A" status in three years and three months, where the average in the Sun Country Section is six years and six months. More than twice as fast as the average Assistant Professional in the section.
Crae turned Class "A" in December 2004, interviewed for the Head Golf Professional position at the New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) three days later, and accepted the position 7 days after turning Class "A". During his time at NMMI Crae not only performed above and beyond all the duties that come with the Head Golf Professional, but he also exceeded expectations by coaching the Varsity and Junior Varsity High School Golf Teams for boys and girls. He also served as interim College Golf Coach, and aided in the process of a handful of cadets attending Division One Colleges after their time at NMMI.
Another major accomplishment over the years that serves as a major arrow in the quiver was the creation of The First Tee of Southeastern New Mexico. Crae not only created the program from a blank Word document, but he also served as President of the Board of Directors for almost five years. Today, 20 years later, TFTSENM serves 7 major communities in the Southeastern part of the State, with a total of over 17,000 kids who are directly impacted by First Tee programming. He also worked closely with the State of New Mexico in the acquisition of over $750,000 to construct a First Tee Learning Center located at the NMMI Golf Course. The learning center was carefully designed to be multipurpose to aid the NMMI Golf Course in a multitude of capacities. In 2019, Crae left NMMI between his 2017 Harley Davidson and his 2017 Indian Darkhorse, Crae managed to ride well over 125,000 miles. Clearing his head for what lies ahead, and poising himself so he may concentrate on teaching the game to those who are lucky enough to have it in their lives. With over 50 years of experience in the business and the game. With many more lessons to learn and students to teach. spreading the knowledge of the game, and his winning attitude towards life, it seems as if he, and all he is surrounded by might want to put on some shades.,
