Gary J. Christian, PGA
Self taught until 26, played collegiate golf at Auburn University. Played 6 years on the mini tours winning 30 times, 6 years on the Korn Ferry Tour winning twice. Was a rookie on the PGA Tour at age 40 where I made the Fed Ex Cup playoffs in my rookie year and played with Tiger Woods late on Saturday at the 2012 Barclays. Career ending injury in 2013 and transitioned to the media necessary, now commentate and am a studio analyst for the Golf Channel, PGA Tour Live and SKY Sports UK
I teach at Timberline Golf Club focusing on scoring rather than mechanics with special emphasis on routine, short game, managing expectations, course management, shot selection and troubleshooting to help the player be their own coach on course I approach coaching differently understanding almost every student doesn’t have time in their daily calendar to practice enough to fundamentally change their swing. My approach looks at the most pressing and easily correctable scoring issues and helps to refine, refocus and improve them. I consider mechanics, set up, shot selection, routine and expectations. My approach is different from most but is successful in the goal of reducing the student’s handicap and scoring more consistently
Helping players achieve their goals.
