AJ Corson
Assistant Golf Professionalassociate
With over seventeen years of playing experience, AJ brings both passion and expertise to his role as Assistant Teaching Professional at the Penn State Golf Courses. His goal is to help students unlock their full potential, fostering not only skill development but also a lifelong love for the game.
Teaching Philosophy
AJ’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that golf is both a physical and mental game. Every student has unique strengths, so lessons are tailored to individual needs, ensuring they are informative, engaging, and fun. Students learn how the mind and body work together in the swing, gaining insights that improve both performance and enjoyment. Whether it’s refining short-game technique, mastering the full swing, or navigating the mental challenges of golf, AJ provides a well-rounded and adaptive approach.
Personality and Personal Connection
AJ believes the best student–teacher relationships are built on mutual respect and personal connection. He takes the time to learn about each student beyond their swing, creating a comfortable, supportive learning environment where players feel both challenged and encouraged. This personal touch allows AJ to connect with golfers of all ages and skill levels in a meaningful way.
Versatility and Player Development
From running junior programs to competing alongside top-level collegiate players, AJ’s diverse background makes him a versatile coach capable of working with everyone from beginners to advanced competitors. He has contributed to player development initiatives such as summer camps and junior leagues, with a focus on growing the game, retaining players, and creating programs that are as enjoyable as they are instructional.
Community and Leadership
Beyond individual instruction, AJ is committed to the growth and accessibility of golf within the community. He has been involved in inclusive programs that welcome players of all backgrounds, advocating for golf as a game that can be enjoyed by anyone. His leadership reflects a dedication not just to teaching skills, but to expanding the game’s reach and ensuring its future.
