About Alex

Alex Fisher, PGA Director of Instruction,

Alex is currently the Director of Instruction at the JW Camelback Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Alex is also the Director of Instruction at the Glacier Club in Durango, Colorado during the summer months.

Originally from Nottingham, England, Alex moved to Naples, Florida in 1999 to pursue a career in the golf industry at Vanderbilt Country Club. During that time Alex met his future wife, Mary, while working at the golf course. In 2001 Alex and Mary headed out west and moved to Arizona. Since moving to the valley, Alex has been a golf instructor at Phoenix Country Club, TPC Scottsdale, as well as Director of Instruction at TPC Las Vegas.

Throughout his career Alex has worked tirelessly to improve his teaching skills. In 2007 he earned his PGA Class A membership and has since completed his PGA Certification in Teaching and Coaching. He is currently working towards his PGA Masters in Teaching. In 2012, Alex was recognized by Golf Digest Magazine as one of America’s Top 40 Teachers under 40 as well as America’s Best Young Teachers. He received that same distinction for 5 straight years. He has been featured in numerous media outlets including Golf Digest, Colorado Avid Golfer, ESPN Radio, Arizona Golfer, and the Arizona Republic.

Alex is not only known for the instruction he gives to adults, he has also been recognized for his work with juniors. In 2017 and 2018 he received the distinction of being one of the Top 50 Teachers in the US by US Kids Golf for kids and most recently was awarded Master Teacher status by US Kids Golf. Currently Alex is on the National Board of Advisors for Taylor Made Golf and is certified by the Titleist Performance Institute for Golf Specific Biomechanics. Alex’s teaching philosophy takes on a total game improvement approach. By focusing on what the best players in the world do consistently, Alex creates a coaching plan for his students that not only focuses on instruction, also includes mental training, course management, fitness, and club fitting.

Away from teaching golf, Alex and his wife Mary are busy raising their son Max (14) and daughter Lucy (12). Both children are very involved with club soccer and scouting. As a family they like to spend time in the outdoors hiking, camping, and downhill mountain biking, as well as running after their goldendoodle Rex.
