I am vey excited to be bringing my teaching and coaching to Persimmon CC.

My teaching knowledge comes from my 40+ year journey with the game of golf. After my family moved to Tualatin in 1984, golf became my life passion. Over the past 40+ years, I have experienced just about every aspect of golf. I started as a junior golfer at Tualatin CC, progressed to a Highschool golfer and then graduated to a Div-1 collegiate golfer at New Mexico State University. Following college I took my first Assistant Golf Professional postion at the famous Kapalua resort on Maui.

That first job led me to future golf professional jobs at the Golf Club at Newcastle in Seattle and Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa. In between my jobs in Seattle and Napa, I took a break to pursue my playing career. That break turned into a 10 year journey on the various professional mini tours all over the country. In that 10 year playing career I won 25 professional events, set 4 course records and competed in the PGA Q-school 5 times.

My most recent journey brought my family back to Tualatin. Upon my return I started my teaching career at Redtail Golf Center. Over the past 7+ years I have given over 7,000 golf lessons to students of all abilities, from total beginners to high level tournament players. The players that I see have the best success, understand that the path to improvement is a process and that a process takes time.

What I truly enjoy about teaching is helping people. I love using my various experiences from my past as a Tournament player and caddy to help golfers experience golf in a new way. It could mean learning to hit a new shot, developing a pre shot routine, stat tracking or improving your process on the course. I love working on all aspects of the golf game, irons, hybrids, fairway woods and drivers but I especially love to work on the short game. The short game is the biggest key to improving score since it is the area of the game we hit the most shots.

The game of golf is a Journey. Every round presents something different, new opportunities and new challenges, just like life. I am thankful that my journey has now taken me to Persimmon CC. I am looking forward to meeting you and hearing how I can help you with your journey.
