Jimmy McMullen, PGA
Director of CoachingAnything that had to do with a ball and a goal, Jimmy played it as a young boy growing up in Northern Virginia and briefly in Western Pennsylvania. His parents taught him a tremendous work ethic, faith and need for community service. As golf became his sport of choice, Jimmy found himself picking up golf balls and mowing the grass at Woody's Golf Range, located in Herndon, Virginia. There, PGA Golf Professional Woody Fitzhugh, mentored and encouraged Jimmy to take his work ethic, faith and service desires on a journey to become a PGA Golf Professional. After graduating from the great Penn State University, Jimmy moved to sunny Florida and began his quest to be the best.
While pursuing his dreams of becoming a PGA Tour Player, he worked under the guidance of several top Professionals in Florida and learned the business of golf and the teaching of golf which added to his excitement of this great game. After several successful years in Florida as a Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf at various Clubs, Jimmy was drawn to the Winston Salem area to bring back to life a dying Golf Range facility. Jimmy and his wonderful family bought and created Jimmy Mac's Golf Range and operated the facility for five years growing the business and teaching all levels of players.
Although owning his own golf business was a dream come true, his family, faith and community service roots guided him to take on a new challenge, one that was completely different than hitting that little white ball.
At the age of 43, Jimmy and his family decided to sell the Golf Range and become a Winston Salem Police Officer. After surviving Rookie School, Jimmy became a midnight shift Patrol Officer for the City of Winston Salem. During the next five years, Jimmy witnessed the best and the worst of our world. The best of the world was wonderful, but the worst of the world brought Jimmy back to the game of golf in hopes that others would enjoy the game as much as Jimmy has. The valuable knowledge, experience, faith and commitment that Jimmy has gained in his career, will sure be beneficial to all the citizens and youth of our community.
Jimmy became the Head Golf Professional at Salem Glen Country Club in June 2015. During this time, his passion for growing the game has never been higher. His desire to teach players this magnificent game and to provide a safe and fun atmosphere to junior golfers has driven him to open and operate The Golf Academy at Salem Glen as the Director of Coaching.
Jimmy is married to a wonderful woman, Tess McMullen, and they are extremely proud of their two children, Tucker and Karlee.
